JV Acquires new Makino EDM and Milling Centers

In order to continue providing accurate, reliable products in a timely manner, JV Manufacturing Co. Inc. has acquired 4 new Makino Wire EDM machines and a new Vertical Machining Center.
The new Makino U6 Wire EDM machines provide an ideal mix of speed, accuracy and surface finish capability with larger travels to tackle the most demanding applications and also feature Makino’s Hyper-I technology, which provides an efficient and easy-to-use interface. These machines use low wire consumption technologies to dramatically reduce the single largest expense in operating wire EDM machines.
JV has also purchased and is awaiting the arrival of the new Makino EDAF2 Fine-Hole Sinker EDM machine.

One Year Anniversary of Plant 16 – March 16, 2017

J.V. Manufacturing Co., Inc. is celebrating the one-year anniversary of the production start-up in our Plant 16 location at 10 Acee Drive in Natrona Heights. Late in the fall of 2015, we took ownership of the existing 65,000 s.f. facility and spent significant time cleaning and re-configuring the facility to meet the production needs of one of our larger stamped-parts customers. In March of the following year, we installed three production stamping lines, along with the supporting die maintenance and part-inspection equipment, allowing us to meet this customer’s current production levels while also providing room for additional growth for this program along with other customers programs as needed.

Hot Off the Presses

Four areas containing 10 stamping presses are being consolidated into a one new press area at J.V. Manufacturing Co., Inc. (JVM) specifically for nuclear reactor component manufacturing. The company is retrofitting a 10,000 sq.-ft. warehouse, which will be completed by the end of 2015. Ryan Vecchi, plant manager, said that the area is in keeping with JVM’s lean manufacturing strategy. “The additional space will allow for the proper staging of needed materials thereby reducing operator fatigue and risk of injury,” Vecchi said. Two 10-hour shifts will operate in the new space to address increased demand.

40th Anniversary

The Designers and Builders of the BETTER Carbide Dies — J.V. Manufacturing Co., Inc. (JVM) — is celebrating its 40th Anniversary. Founded in 1975, JVM has been setting industry standards by continually investing in our people and technology. We remain committed to doing everything we touch the right way, the first time. We pledge to offer the best customized solutions delivered on time and to spec to our customers for the next 40 years.

JVM Receives PEDA Grant, Expands FuelCell Manufacturing

J.V. Manufacturing Co., Inc. (JVM) has been awarded a $500,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Energy Development Authority (PEDA) to buy additional processing equipment to produce fuel cell components. The stamped products are designated for stationary fuel cells, which former Gov. Tom Corbett said is part of Pennsylvania’s diverse energy portfolio of abundant energy resources. The new processing equipment will be in place by July 31, 2015; and eight to 10 manufacturing jobs will be created.

New QC Department and Lab That Is Above and Beyond

A mezzanine area has been built at J.V. Manufacturing Co., Inc. (JVM) for a new quality control department and lab, which comprises inspection and quality areas. The bi-level space, with a total of 3,700 sq. ft., will house eight inspectors, laid out in the same sequence as the processes on the manufacturing floor below. Ryan Vecchi, plant manager, said, “One of the major benefits of the new space is the layout of QC inspections and how it parallels JVM’s lean manufacturing strategy. Our quality inspection program is second-to-none and is critical to our customers’ success.” The company is ISO 9001:2008 certified. Vecchi also said that the move also will free up space on the production floor. The new space will also feature a new conference room and training area. The project will be completed during the third quarter 2015.
